1. Psychological Services
By engaging with The Break Psychology, you consent to the collection of personal information relevant to your situation (e.g., contact details, medical history, referral information). This information is necessary for assessment and treatment.
Your psychologist will always seek your informed consent before beginning treatment, and you may withdraw from therapy at any time without prejudice.
2. Privacy and Confidentiality
All personal information collected is stored securely in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988, Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW), and the APS Code of Ethics.
Your information is used only by your psychologist and authorised staff as needed.
You may request access to your file at any time by speaking with your psychologist.
3. Limits to Confidentiality
Your information remains confidential except in the following circumstances:
If subpoenaed by a court.
If non-disclosure would place you or another person at serious risk of harm.
If you provide written consent for disclosure to another professional, agency, or third party.
If disclosure is reasonably expected (e.g. to your GP) for purposes directly related to your care.
If required or authorised by law.
In professional consultation or supervision, where your identity is de-identified to preserve privacy.
4. Fees and Payments
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Fees depend on the service, referral type, and psychologist.
Payment is processed automatically on the day of your appointment using securely encrypted Halaxy systems.
Neither your psychologist nor the director has access to your card details.
Bank account details may be requested to process Medicare rebates.
5. Holding Deposits
To secure your first session, a $100 deposit is required.
If cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice, the deposit is transferred to your rescheduled appointment.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice will forfeit the deposit.
Repeated cancellations may require new deposits for future bookings.
6. Cancellation Policy
More than 48 hours’ notice → No fee.
Between 24–48 hours’ notice → 50% of the fee applies.
Less than 24 hours’ notice (unless a medical emergency) → 100% of the fee applies.
Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for cancelled or unattended sessions.
Emails or voicemails sent after 4pm Friday are considered received Monday morning.
Sessions can be changed to Telehealth if you develop viral symptoms.
7. Session Structure
Individual sessions run for 50 minutes. The final 10 minutes of the hour are used by the psychologist to complete notes.
While we aim to begin sessions on time, occasional delays may occur. Clients are guaranteed their full 50-minute session.
8. Safety Policy
Clients are asked to respect the safety of staff and other clients at all times.
Aggressive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Weapons or objects that may be used as weapons must not be brought into the practice.
9. Consequences of Withholding Information
If you choose not to provide personal information, The Break Psychology may be unable to provide services.
You may request to use a pseudonym, unless impracticable or prohibited by law.
Fees and invoices will still be generated under your chosen name.
10. Emergency Contact
We require an emergency contact for duty of care. If you fail to attend a booked appointment without contact, we may reach out to your emergency contact to ensure your welfare

Concerns can be raised directly with your psychologist. You may also contact:

12. Acknowledgement
By booking or attending a session at The Break Psychology, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and consent to the provision of psychological services in line with this agreement.
