Hi, I’m Vanlea: a down-to-earth psychologist who believes that real connection, empathy, and a bit of honesty can go a long way in therapy.
I began my psychology journey at the University of Wollongong and completed my honours at Monash University in Melbourne. Since then, I’ve worked in private practice supporting clients across all ages and walks of life, from young people finding their feet, to adults navigating the deeper stuff like trauma, grief, and burnout.
No matter the story someone brings into the room, I’ve learned that the foundation of good therapy is a strong, trusting relationship. When we feel safe and seen, we’re more open to healing; and that’s where real progress happens.
I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, mindfulness and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. But more importantly, I tailor our work to you, because everyone brings their own history, personality, and pace. I also lean into the real-life, human parts of therapy, the stuff you won’t always find in textbooks, to make sure our sessions feel meaningful and practical.
Some of the areas I’m most passionate about include:
Anxiety and mood disorders
Trauma and PTSD
Grief and loss
Stress and burnout
Relationship challenges
Parenting stress
Men’s mental health
Supporting LGBTQIA+ clients
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mum to twin girls and a big fan of being near the ocean with a coffee in hand. I love a walk on the beach with my dog, or blasting music and dancing in the loungeroom when it’s pouring outside.
If you’re looking for a psychologist who will meet you where you’re at and work alongside you, with compassion and a bit of humour. I’d love to meet you.
